I’m working on this page……keep checking back!
About Me (Tina Marie):
Born and raised in New England, I come from a long line of Italian bakers. I tried going to school for other things (including Justice and Law Administration with a minor in history) but it always came back to baking for me. In November 2011, I opened my own bakery. I bake out of another restaurant’s kitchen, but it works. When I’m not baking, I’m working on my historical fiction novel, which is currently in editing.
I could give you all the facts and stats about my life, but that’s not the interesting part. The interesting part started on October 1st 2011. My soon-to-be-ex-husband walked out on me when I was in the hospital waiting room. I was so sick, I thought I was going to die, but my ex had to go to work…I saw where his priorities were, worked on getting better, and when I did, I was released. I moved out on my own for the first time in my life, was walked out on again by someone else who I thought cared about me, and then found myself 800 miles from home, sleeping on an air mattress with a hole in it, that I didn’t even own. I lost a dear friend in a tragic car accident, was in a car accident of my own, lost my dog to old age, and lived off of cocoa pebbles for months, because it was what I could afford. I worked two jobs (my bakery and a waitress job) trying to make ends meet. I would go weeks without a day off. It was all okay though….it makes me appreciate what I have, even more. One day, when my bakery is a success, I will look back on all this and be thankful it happened.
I know there are people out there far worse off than myself. I know as bad as things were for me, they could have been a lot worse…but I’m here, and I made it through. I’m not going anywhere, anytime soon! People hear my story and think it’s been one crazy ride. It has been, and now I’m sharing that crazy ride with you!
Key Players:
Bill: AKA, the Marine. Born in GA while his mom was on vacation, he went home to Illinois three days later, where he was raised. His mom passed away when he was 12, leaving him in the foster care system. Luckily, he was blessed with an amazing foster family, the Amos family. They treat Bill like he was born to them. We already know our first son will have the name “Amos” somewhere in his name. Bill worked in construction before joining the Marines, 8 years ago. Currently, he works in motor transport, as a truck driver. He is responsible for moving fuel and refueling aircrafts. He has served 4 tours, 3 in Iraq, and 1 in Afghanistan. July 2013 he will leave the military due to medical reasons, and return to civilian life. He will be moving from near the air station where he currently lives, to where I am, an hour away. We have plans to get married and have a football team size family of kids. Bill loves hunting, fishing, and well, anything redneck, he can get into.
Baker: DOB 1/18/12. He is our “brown dog.” We call him that because hes a mutt. We know he has pit bull and lab in him. He also is part chow. He was rescued by a good samaritan and brought to an animal shelter, where he waited almost a month for me. Everyone who passed him up, completley lost out! I really think he was waiting for me though! He’s super sweet, and VERY goofy!
Diesel: Chocolate Lab. The “Old Man” of the pack, he turned 14 years old this past January (2013). Bill bought him from a breeder before he was even born. Sold as the runt of the pack, he is a healthy 87 pounds and loving life!
Oak: Black Lab. Oak was born October 2000, sold to an older couple who decided they couldn’t deal with a puppy, and then given to Bill when he was 6 months old. He’s not very bright, but as sweet as can be!
McCabe (also known as “Little Bit” because she’s only 6 pounds and full grown) was a kitten in 2008 when I stopped at a pet supply store looking for moving boxes. My friend, the manager, didn’t have any boxes, but she had a tiny kitten with (then) blue eyes, who fit in the palm of my hand. From a group of rescued kittens, all of her siblings were adopted, and McCabe was about to be put to sleep by the shelter because all black animals are just the hardest to adopt out. I took her home….
Isis:
Isis is the happiest cat in the world. I already had my dog Buck, and McCabe when Isis decided she would be part of our pack. I took Buck to a pet supply store when we were living in Charlotte, NC, and Isis reached through the cage and started petting Buck’s nose. I had to take her home. She is always purring, loves to chase things, and talking to everyone!
